You've gotta give it to get it.

When I first saw these pictures on Miriam's blog, I felt an enormous amount of sadness for our country.

I don't want to get political on this blog (okay, I don't like getting political in real life, either), but I do feel strongly about this issue: love.

I understand that the people who were doing the protesting in the pictures above just want to be loved and accepted. They feel hated, and they're trying to fight that. But just read that last sentence again: they're trying to fight hate. What's wrong with that statement? You can't fight hate with hate and win, and yet that's what this group of people is trying to do.

I usually consider myself a pretty open-minded person, but hate is not one thing I'm open toward. If any group of people wants me to consider accepting them, then I'd prefer their efforts to be in a loving manner. What I see in the pictures above is the spread of hate and fear, not acceptance.

You've gotta give acceptance to get acceptance.

A very good point baby and it just goes to show that hate can consume even a entire race of people. and before they know it they are as bad as the thing they hated

Oh Jennifer, I think you said it perfectly. I agree with everything that you said.
