I've been wanting to write about my education teacher for a while now, but I really don't think I could do her justice on here. But I'll try.
She is called Dr. Holmes.
She looks to be at least 60.
She is in a wheel chair (which she is surprisingly mobile in).
Her hair is very interesting. I'm pretty sure it's a wig, but I could be wrong. It's sort of that orange-ish color that black hair turns when you try to dye it blonde.
She is hilarious, and absolutely my favorite teacher that I have had in college yet.
She's worked with "crack babies, drunk babies, druggie babies, gang bangers, and many, many classes of special education" (her words).
She says she has tried to retire twice before "but the first time the crack babies came out and the second time the gang bangers started up" (again, her words).
She is such a sweet lady who has devoted her whole life to helping the children who so many other teachers have given up on. I'd say that is something that deserves some recognition.
She is hilarious, and absolutely my favorite teacher that I have had in college yet.
I hope that, when I'm her age, I can say that I've helped children that no one else wanted to.
I hope that some young woman will look at me and find hope in me, like I have in her.
Thank you, Dr. Holmes.
