Lies!

I have known I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember.
Since teachers run in the family, it was an easy decision for me.

For as long as I have known I wanted to be a teacher, I have also been told that it was a wonderful choice for a career.

I have been told countless times that:
"there will always be jobs for teachers,"
"the teaching field will always be growing, since the amount of children is always growing," and
"you will be in high demand as a teacher."
You get the idea.

I find it ironic that, as my time to actually look for a job as a teacher draws nearer, all those promises become lies.
Lies, I tell ya! Even teachers have not escaped this recession. My mom has already gotten a pay cut, and there is discussion of even making the school year shorter [for those of you who may be under the wrong impression, teachers only get paid for the days they work; they do not get paid for their vacation time], and making teacher work days unpaid teacher work days.

Still, I will pray that all those people who gave me such high hopes, will not let me down.

Come on, America, I'm rootin' for ya!

aduating in Spring of 2011!! I've been worried about this since I began college two years ago, so this news takes a big burden off of my shoulders. It also means something else, but we'll save that for later...
